Speaker Bio
Julián Varas is a general surgeon, Associate Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Director of Innovation at the UC School of Medicine. His work brings together surgery, competency-based education, simulation, and technology, with a focus on practical training, objective skills assessment, and asynchronous feedback. He is the founder of C1DO1, a platform designed to scale the training and assessment of procedural skills through video, traceability, and artificial intelligence. He has led academic and international initiatives in surgical simulation and medical education, and has been recognized with distinctions such as the Reed Williams Award and his appointment as a Karolinska Institute PRIME Fellow.
