Exemplary faculty and staff from across GW will lead these workshops to discuss the intersection of technology and academic medicine, with a special emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This session will cover the impact of AI in Medical and Residency Application and Selection, exploring how AI is changing the admissions and selection processes in medical schools and residency programs for both interviewees and interviewers. Associate Dean for MD Programs and Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Ioannis Koutrouios, MD, PhD, MBA, and member of the AAMC's AI in Admissions and Selection Technical Advisory Committee, will discuss the current status of these tools in academic medicine, review the challenges and concerns for embracing them more broadly, and highlight potential future applications as programs more towards a more efficient, effective, fair, and informed process.

Want to start using genAI tools but don’t know where to start? Join the CFE for our second Fall Workshop Education Technology Session - Harnessing GenAI to Create Text and Presentations. Kirsten Brown, PhD, MA, Associate Director of Teaching & Learning and Career Development, and Teodora Hristov, Senior Instructional Designer, will provide an overview of how genAI tools, such as ChatGPT, Napkin.ai, Microsoft Copilot, can be used for designing slides, writing narratives, and developing clinical cases and multiple choice questions (MCQs). We will also cover opportunities and limitations in applying tools to your text and presentation needs. Participants will leave with strategies to integrate AI into their future endeavors.

The session will explore how AI-driven tools can streamline essential faculty workflow processes such as crafting letters of recommendation (LORs), generating biography templates, summarizing course evaluations, and drafting end of year faculty reports (Lyterati). By integrating AI, faculty can enhance efficiency and focus on higher-impact activities, including teaching and research. Participants will also gain insights into optimizing AI tools for handling tasks like course evaluation summaries and drafting narratives such as end-of-year Lyterati reports. Additionally, the session will address similarities and valuable differences between ChatGPT and Perplexity. Participants will leave the session with tips for crafting prompts and real-world examples of how AI can unlock new levels of productivity.
